It’s quite interesting starting a blog, because you want to tell so much and so detailed that you come to a point that you are completely blank. So I thought to just do it step by step and see how it goes.
…. A little bit more about us:
Iker as you can read in the about section has made a complete change in his behavior and has become as I call him a real dog. The day we met (13.08.2010) was a very special day, because I had been thinking for a long time of getting a dog again. On that day a few years earlier a very important person to me had passed away and every death anniversary we always tried to do something special or things he liked. That year I was clueless and the only thought that I had was: Life is too short for not doing what you like or fight for what you enjoy most.
Still everybody kept advising me against my decision of adopting “you just started college“, “you don’t need more responsibilities”, “enjoy your freedom”, “he will end up at your moms”, “the excitement won’t last long” etc. So there I was wondering on what to do and I just drove to the rescue organization called Fundación Luca and asked about the dogs they had currently in adoption. The lady asked me a lot of questions and told me she had someone very special who could fit perfectly into my lifestyle. When she came back I was a little bit offended, she was holding this tiny yorkie mix in her arms and introduced him as “Chewbacca” a.k.a “Chewy”. I was even more shocked and told her that I’m not really the kind of Paris Hilton purse dog person and that I rather have a dog which I can take jogging or for a hike. She just put “Chewy” on my lab and he just gave me this I don´t really care, not wiggling my tale at you look and I fell in love.
I decided to adopt him that day but told the lady I was going to pick him up on the next day at 9:00 am, which wasn´t the best idea on a Friday night being 21 years old. Of course I went partying that night and woke up at 9:15 with 6 missed calls from the shelter and a very anxious and freshly bathed “chewy” waiting for me. I threw on some pants, didn’t check myself in the mirror and drove very hungover to the shelter. So there I was with chewy and the crew saying goodbye as suddenly I see the person in charge of the adoptions waving with a camera: “it´s time for the happy ending picture for our happy ending wall “I can a sure you the last thing this picture looks like is close to a Happy ending. That’s how our story started and after 6 years of being together we have some pretty good memories and stories to tell.
P.D. Chewy became immediately Iker. You must know to this, that in Mexico the nickname for Jesus is “Chuy” and being a very catholic country people would have thought especially my very religious grandmother that I had the audacity to call my dog after Jesus. (Lord save us) Iker was much cooler and on that same day Iker Casillas won goal keeper of the World Cup 2010 what better name for a champ.
Song I discovered today:
Treat you right- HONNE
Have a lovely day!
